DCPromo Failed

I am trying to promote a stand alone server to the domain controller, however when i run DCpromo i get error message stating “managin network session failed …network path not found.
I believe this is caused when DC is published incorrectly in DNS. Can anyone show me how to resolve this issue. At this point I am willing to try any alternative solutions you might suggest. I would greatly appreciate your help.
