'DDE Server Window' Error On Shutdown

By gamnet ·
Hi all!

My PC refuses to shutdown normally and Win98se reports that 'DDE Server Window' is busy and waiting for my input to select one of the 3 option buttons.Selecting any of the them causes it to forever.Even terminating each TRSes in Task Manager fail to shutdown Windows.

As a result,I have updated Windows to its latest patches via Windows Update and am quite sure there are no malwares or viruses present. Also done complete Scandisk and Defrag.Uninstalled ZoneAlarm too.Nothing works!

So could anybody in this forum knows what 'DDE Server Window' application is?I look around for its definition but don't quite understand all the techno jargons. Please help! Thanks a lot.

My System:
P3 600Mhz

I have seen this error pop up for may reasons. You may want to try deleting all temp files. Usually found in c:\winnt\temp (Do not delete anything else under the winnt folder. Deleting anything else may cause system instablity.) and you can also delete the temp files in c:\temp.

I would also suggest running a Spyware scan with SpyBot S&amp you can download it from:

please remove any spaces that the forum may put in the address ^^

Oh i forgot to mention that i did scanned with Spybot, and it didn't find any malwares. So as a last resort(in frustation really!),i decided to reinstall Windows and presto, every thing is working A OK...So thanks anyway CGriffith318 for your helpful reply.Though i still don't know what causes the error messages......
