Debug ESM from DC To Exchange 2003

In my home windows 2000 AD test enviroment.Two DC’s.One Exchange 2003 recently upgraded from 2000 which was upgraded from NT 4.0.Both DC’s have Exchange System Manager installed.Both DC’s are Global Catalog.Currently DNS is not AD integrated.The DC that is DNS server holds all FSMO roles.On that DC I have ESM 2000 installed.I am able to open the interface and view and make modifications.The server that is has the the Storage group and mailbox store is the object I cannot attach to.I get the error “the store service is unable.Be sure you have Network connectivity to the Exchange Server”.I do have connectivity.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue or how can I resolve the issue.
