The DEC Maintenance Operation Protocol (MOP) is most likely due to your Xyplex 720 being incorrectly configured to Support one of the following protocols - DECnet which is a propiatary Multicast (AA/AB) protocol, or the DEC Local Area Transport (LAT) Protocol.

As with most network supported peripheral devices, such as network Printers, they are shipped from the factory with a default setting enabled for each of the supported protocols.

Check with Xyplex for product specific configuration procedures, and disable any network protocol that is unnecessary.

My question was "How do I stop the multicasts?" Of course the 720 is incorrectly configured. How do I configure it correctly? "RTFM" is the obvious answer but the "manuals" aren't much help.
