Deciding which training / course route.

By Lyla78 ·
I work as a Service Desk Analyst for a Local Authority and we are going through a re-design, the future of the ICT department I work for looks to be halved. With this in mind, I would like to carry on studying in my own time to stay and become in a more professional ICT role - I haven't quite decided to which path yet. I currently have an HNC in Computing, ITIL V3 to my name and am consider a MSCE, but am not sure of all the training centres in my area are reputable. Can anyone recommend one?, I am in the north west; Manchester area. And would be interested in attending in the day/evening or at a push self study. I'm also considering a 3 year part-time foundation degree but this could take up 3 years to complete. I think I would like to try the MSCE route with a view to second line support and hopefully a Systems Analysis career in the future.

Which path?

by Anton Avila In reply to Deciding which training / ...

Well, you've said you want to maybe branch into Second Line support, so maybe MCSE might be a good idea. Having said that, if you end up in a supervisory or even team leader role, I'd suggest expanding on your ITIL v3 (I assume you simply mean Foundations) and do a Capability module from the Intermediate level... probably Operational Support and Analysis?

All the best
