Decrypting files from old XP system

Hi… I have a very big problem decrypting some of my files… once I had WinXP system and I encrypted some of my folders and then later decided to install a New Windows XP system which overwrited my old system…. but I forgot to decrypt the file before installing new system…. is there a way to decrpt my files?
