Decrypting files from old XP system

Hi... I have a very big problem decrypting some of my files... once I had WinXP system and I encrypted some of my folders and then later decided to install a New Windows XP system which overwrited my old system.... but I forgot to decrypt the file before installing new system.... is there a way to decrpt my files?

If you have the certificate you had from the old system and install it then yes. Otherwise forget it, unless you want to spend 100 yrs trying to decrypt it....

P.J.'s correct, you need the enncyption keys if you want to recover the data. Usually when you enable encryption it asks if you wat to back the keys up to a disk. If you did that thenn you can use that disk to reinstall the keys. If not, then there is no way to unencrypt the files.
