I want to set my W2000 servers to defrag C:\ once a week at 10:30 p.m. If I set up a scheduled task it launches defrag but then a pop up box appears and waits for you to choose which drive you want defraged. I want it to run and shut down withoutany help from me??? I don’t want disk keeper.

      Hi,

I wonder if the defrag command under XP would work on Win2K? I’d be doing a comprehensive backup before I tried it, though!

      Example…

      E:\Documents and Settings\Tim Medhurst>defrag /?
      Usage:
      defrag [-a] [-f] [-v] [-?]
volume drive letter or mount point (d: or d:\vol\mountpoint)
      -a Analyze only
-f Force defragmentation even if free space is low
      -v Verbose output
      -? Display this help text

      E:\Documents and Settings\Tim Medhurst>defrag E: -av
      Windows Disk Defragmenter
Copyright (c) 2001 Microsoft Corp. and Executive Software International, Inc.

      Analysis Report
      19.53 GB Total, 7.21 GB (36%) Free, 5% Fragmented (11% file fragmentation)

      E:\Documents and Settings\Tim Medhurst>

      Cheers,
      Tim.

Read about the AutoDefrag utility for Win 2K. http://www.morphasys.com/autodefrag/. This is probably the best answer to your situation.

      Good luck.
