The White Paper on Defragging (http://whitepapers.techrepublic.com/whitepaper.aspx?docid=131602&tag=nl.e064)is quite good.
However I think it misses out on the following pre-requisites for successful defragging:
1: Delete all temporary files i.e.
C:\temp
C:\winnt\temp
all user temporary folders
all internet temporary files
2: Right click on each drive in My Computer,
click properties and then click Disk Cleanup
and go through this
3: Empty the Recycle bin
4: Put the Swap file on its own drive
Anybody got any more to add to this list?
