Delay in getting the Login Screen

By anantpatange ·
I am having a Windows NT 4.0 Workstation on a Intel P-II 400 MHz PC.After locking the Computer if I try to Logon after some time by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del it takes about 10-15 Sec to get the Authentication screen. And after trying this practice for 3-4 times then the Authentication screen comes within the normal time. Can anybody guide me to solve this problem?

Delay in getting the Login Screen

Sounds like you might have some power management software running on this machine. It might be spinning down the hard drive and/or putting the monitor in power-off or standby mode. This isn't generally a very good practice under NT, anyway, since NT isn't compatible with a lot of power management type software. Check out any software running under NT, but also check the BIOS power management settings - this might be the source of the problem. Hope this helps!

I do agree with synergy,

Do check on your profile wheather it is using mandatory or roaming profiles.

Sometimes, it might be the harddisk space issues. yourpaging file might be too small.

Have a quick check.

Cheers!
