Speed Up the Start Menu Response Time

by CaptBilly1Eye In reply to Delay in opening start me ...

CAUTION: Before making changes to your system?s Registry, back it up. Making incorrect changes to the Registry can make the system unusable.
1. Back up your registry.
2. In the registry editor, go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\MenuShowDelay.
3. The default value is 400, which is the time that the start menu pauses after the time that you have highlighted something, but before it is displayed. Change it to 0 to eliminate the wait.
4. Restart your computer.

Most menus, but especially the start menu, should now respond instantly without that time-wasting pause.
