Delayed emails

Hi, we have a user in the company who is having trouble sending emails to one particular address. It is a .ac.uk email address and our mailguard software shows it as being temprarily undeliverable for around 12 hours then delivered successfully. The recipient has confirmed this to be true. No other email addresses anyone sends to in the company have problems, which leads me to beleive it is their mail servers. My question is how can i prove whether its my end or theirs at fault, how can i trace the email to find the hold up. Or is this a dns issue on my server. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
