Delayed Write Failed

An mp3 file download to my Zen Nano Plus resulted in “Delayed Write Failed”. This caused the loss of USB access – hence cannot reformat the Nano. This cannot be done off the computer (no reset,etc on the Nano). Any way to delete the blocking function on the computer to permit USB access, in spite of the corrupt/incomplete file now on the Nano?
