Delete active partition in Windows 2000

    by loulou2 ·

I have a system with Windows 2000 Server installed on it. I want to blow this away and start with a fresh install. When I run setup and get to the part where you can create/delete partitions it will not allow me to delete the existing partition.
Does anyone know why this is happening and/or any work arounds for this?

Boot with a win 98 startup disk or dos sys disk and run fdisk. Then run your setup. It should work

I actually did that but what I discovered is that you can only delete partitions if you boot from the setup floppies. If you boot from CD it won’t allow you to delete the partition because it writes info there.
