Look for "Tweakui.exe". It should be on the Win CD.
(For Win 98 it's Tools\Reskit\Powertoy)
Under "Paranoia" you'll find settings that will clear out all of those pesky records of searches, etc. It's labled "Cover your tracks"

the Powertoy sub directory is not on the Win98 2nd ed CD; nor is the file "tweakui.exe"

Sorry, but your suggestion doesn't work...after highlighting a particular file name, then right clicking and highlighting and then pressing "delete", the file name in question is still there if you go back to the arrow to the right of the "named" file field and click on it...it shows up in the list of previously searched for file names!

Sorry, it was left off the SE CD. Try:

CAUTION: Using the registry backup before changing and know what you are doing.

Regedit: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\Doc Find Spec MRU

There they are. Delete those you want to but I always leave the MRU List

Hope this helps
