Hello,
Is there a way to delete files from command line using ‘Explorer.exe’? For instance, I would like to be able to do something like this;
[pre] X:\Temp.Copy.Of.Project>explorer.exe /remove c:\projects\.svn[/pre]
My reasoning for wanting to do this is that I use SVN for source code control and sometimes I make a copy of the SVN “Working” project folder to another disk; as secondary backup when SVN server is down.
Problem: The copied folder, and all sub folders, has a ‘.svn’ folder in them. Now, SVN considers this copied as an actual “Working” SVN folder. Needless to say, this can lead to confusion. So, what I need to do is traverse the folder’s file tree and delete each ‘.svn’ folder.
I would like to use this Windows/Unix utility called find, downloaded from http://sourceforge.net/projects/unxutils, to programmatically locate these ‘.svn’ folders and somehow use ‘Explorer.exe’ to remove them.
Thus, is it possible to do something similar to this from XP command shell prompt;
[pre] X:\Temp.Copy.Of.Project> find . -name .svn -type d | explorer.exe /remove [/pre]
For reference, the output of find command would be;
[pre]
.\.svn
.\documents\.svn
.\lib\.svn
.\nbproject\.svn
.\nbproject\private\.svn
.\res\.svn
.\res\data_screens\.svn
.\res\messages\.svn
.\res\view_edit\.svn
.\src\.svn
[/pre]
One of the main advantages of using ‘Explorer.exe’ is that delete objects would go to the ‘Recycle Bin’.
Is there any way of doing this?
PS: I removed all file/folder modifying programs from the downloaded win32/unix utility program because IMHO they are dangerous and don’t play well with file recycler.
Thanks!
