Deleted folders not disappearing

When deleting folders off an NT server from a workstation they dont go away. Although when you try and access the folder you get a message “access is denied”. If you wait long enough the folder finally disappears but it can take days. So I have all these folders hanging around that arent actaully there and this problem doesnt happen all the time and is completely random. Thanks in advance.
