Deleted Public Folders stay in Show Name

    Locked

    by mcrowley ·

When I create a Public Folder on an Exchange 5.5 server from within Outlook 2000, it automatically adds that folder to my “Show Names From the:” list. In order for everybody else to see that folder, I have to go into the properties of the folder, and check “Show this folder as an e-mail address book”. That part makes perfect sense. However, when I delete the folder, the Outlook client still shows that folder in the “Show Names From the:” list. If you select the folder, it gives an internal error. Is there a place that folder list is stored on the workstation, and if so, a way to refresh that list or edit it???

I had this same problem… You can delete the folder by going to Tools, Services, Outlook Address Book, Properties. You should be able to highlight the folder and choose Remove Address Book. I’m using Outlook 98, so there may be a few differences, but the overall premise should be the same. I did have one workstation that still got the internal error after removing the folder. I had to create a new .pst and import everything from the old…
