Question

Locked

Deleted USB controller

By josiejo.wales ·
whilst uninstalling my usb pen drive i seem to have inadvertantly uninstalled both my keyboard and mouse (i was in hardware as the troubleshoot told me to check if there was a problem with the pen drive).
So now i cannot even click to logon to windows. Before i uninstalled the USB bits i created a system restore point but of course i cant get into xp to restore it... is there anyway to reinstate the usb ports?from dos? or is it the drivers ive uninstalled?

maybe a bit late but here goes.......

Press F8 whilst XP is booting and select Last known good configuration. Alternatively, you could try disabling USB in bios and re-booting; shutdown them re-enable - XP should then find the "new" hardware.

good luck

Restart windows press F8 at boot, select safe mode, continue and try to restore or point.

if there is any problem finally insert xp cd boot and repair ur xp windows.

this will fix ur windows and ur documents will not delete.

enjoy!
