Deleteing corrupt registry key

By ostranw ·
running WinNT 4.0 SP6 tried loading video drv for 3dfx .Drv did not work , after uninstalling I found a corrupt key in reg that it won't let me delete says "error writing". all 3dfx software has been deleted. causes "found new Hardware" message on boot. Any ideas of how to fix, without reloading NT?
Thanks

The problem occurs if their is a uninstall software listed under Programs,to which you would uninstall the software,it will give you a error message, because you have deleted the registry key

The only solution I have had with this is to reinstall the program software, boot computer into safe mode and delete the drivers and hardware using the Device Manager

Reboot

I would first try to restore the registry form the backup copy on the system.

If that doesn't work, check out this TechRepublic article.
