deleteing file error
I keep trying to delete these jpeg's from my computer and I keep getting this error message. It says: Error deleting file. Cannot delete file: the filename you specified is invalid or too long. Specify a different file name. I would like to get this off my computer so any help would be appreciated

Go to command prompt, change to folder where files are kept. Type DEL *.jpg /P (or *.jpeg)
and then enter Y to delete the files you don`t want.

If you are trying to delete all these files within diretories, that could be the problem if there are a lot of directories. If so, try this:
Go into the very directory the files are in. So if the files are c:\pics\home\school\bbq
Go into the BBQ folder and deelte all the pics from there, then delete the directories. Try this before you try to delete everything by just trying to remove c:\pics itself.

rename the file to a shorter file name. Then try to del out of windows if that does not work go to command prompt. in xp and 2000is start>run>cmd and then press enter. 98/me is command.exe

I had a problem (after letting someone use my computer) of too many subdirectories in a directory being created that I could not delete because of the same error message "...filename too long". It must have been at least more than 40 directories in one. What I did to be able to delete them: I reduced the directory name to one or two letters, selected a few directories at a time and cut, pasted somewhere else, then deleted.
