Deleting Invalid files and folders

How can I delete files and folders with invalid names. I have tried to rename them but have been unable to.

Some times these issues are not the route cause, sometimes its also a corrupt mft can be corrupt also. If its related to files with reserved characters, there is another method to resolving your issues. Luke,

If you mean invalid file names such as prn and lpt1, which are obviously reserved by the Operating System, then the answer is POSIX.

You can find POSIX utilities in the NT Resource Kit. You will need to refer to the documentation in theresource kit to determine the correct syntax. POSIX bypasses the normal checks and measures that NT has over it's file system and will therefore allow you to delete invalid file names.
