Dell and Microsoft Volume License Problems

By sgill ·
Is anyone else seeing where their computers, our's are Dell, have not been allowing the operating system to be reloaded using a Microsoft Volume License disc that we purchased for our district?

After you boot to the boot menu and chose boot to cd and then allow the set up to start from the disc. It fails right after it is finished loading up the required files and is just about to give you the installation menu to decide whether you want to install the operating system or go to the recovery console.

But it fails.... looks almost like a bad hard drive. But it's not. Dell says he have to use their operating systme discs with their cd's that came with the computers to start with.

Can anyone tell me if they're seeing this as well and if so did you find a resolution to it?

You probably have to use the Dell disks.

Or find out which drivers it needs to load in order for the system to work, then press F6 when the system asks if you need to load further drivers, and have them handy.

You'll have to use the Dell Recovery Disc here

Not a M$ Volume License Disc as they are different.

While you can use any Windows Install Disc to install the OS the product Key's will quite possibly be different and here the versions of the OS are different as well.

This will be your main problem attempting to use a Volume License Disc with a different versions of Windows that is causing your problems.
