Dell G7 7588 – Random keys periodically stop working

I have a year old Dell G7 7588 laptop where keys periodically stop working on it. My `, 5, 6, Esc, Ctrl, 8 on the numpad, and sometimes g, h. I have all of the latest drivers, I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled my diver, I’ve booted in to linux and had the same problem. I thought it was a hardware problem, so I brought it into a shop to repair it. All of the keys worked for them without finding a single problem. After returning from the repair shop, the problem arose again after I plugged in a draw tablet with an hdmi and 2 usb’s. It also happened again after I plugged in a usb mouse. Is there anyway that a usb input could cause the keyboard to stop working? How can I check to see if my usb are messing with my keyboard without spending more money? Has this every happened before? The only program that I have installed that could mess with it is throttlestop, which I use to under volt. However, I turned it off and had the same problem.

and take along the USB mouse and the draw tablet as well as other peripherals in the USB ports. Let the repair folks see the problems as they occur. If all drivers are up to date and compatible with your operating systems, then the issues are probably hardware related, could be something simple such as a USB port shorting somewhere on the motherboard. Anyhow, letting the repair folks see the issues happening may offer clues of what to look for.
It could also be problems with the attached hardware, or maybe a USB port going bad. Try different USB ports to attach peripherals one at a time, you may be able to track down a bad port, and then just remember not to plug anything into that one.

I figured out that not all keyboard is compatible for a particular laptop even if it’s the same brand.

You should go back to the repair shop and change the keyboard or else it will periodically stop working which will be frustrating for you
