Dell Inspiron 15R w/AMD video card 550. The dvd isn't recognized.

By heartfax ·
I have tried to trouble shoot and got the message that the driver is corrupted. when I try to search for the latest driver to download the response is that the latest driver is already installed. I guess either the driver is corrupted and I can't download or the dvd player is bad. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to proceed? Thanks

So did uninstalling the DVD Drive as suggested by Wiz not work?

That would be the sensible way to proceed but if that didn't work you are sort of left with the Drive itself the Connection between the M'Board and drive or the M'Board.

Without knowing what you've tried it's very hard to suggest anything though you did seem to take Wiz's advice and not post your E Mail Address this time.

Manually uninstall the driver

by Rob Kuhn In reply to Dell Inspiron 15R w/AMD v ...

Since it's a Dell, go to their support site, enter the service tag, and download the driver (if you haven't done so already).

Then manually uninstall the driver from the "Device Manager".

If you look at the "Driver File Details" it will show you the files and thier location; I would move them to a temporary directory (or just rename them; you may need to bring the laptop up in Safe Mode/Command Prompt in order to rename them).

After you've manually removed (renamed) the drivers, uncompress the drivers you've downloaded from the Dell website making sure to note where it extracted to.

Reboot your computer and either let Windows try to look for the correct drivers or manually do it.
