Dell Latitude D600 Blank Screen

I have a Dell Latitude D600 that goes thru the boot process and makes it to the Windows 2000 Splash,then gets a blank screen.It is readable if turned to the side.When I got it,it had been turned on and off so many times it now has the hard drive failure screen that follows the splash screen.Any suggestions or thoughts on this?
