Dell Optiplex GX280 Mouse freezing

By LigurZA ·
Hi. We have two of these GX280's. The one is working fine and the other, not so fine. We just replaced the harddrive on the one and re-installed the system. This PC is used for GIS mainly. We find that when the machine is under load, the USB mouse freezes and you have to unplug and re-plug it. Very unproductive. Does anyone know what is causing the problem?
Thanks.

Define "under a load" please. Do you mean that the processor is spiking at 100% and all system resources have been consumed?

Does the mouse work well except for when the GID program is operating?

We've found that the USB ports on the front of the machine tend to "go to sleep". Try using one in the back.

User has been using ports on keyboard and side of LCD. Says load is 97%. He is going to try plugging directly into back of PC.
