Dell PowerEdge 1750 Prec 4/di Raid question

By work ·
I have a Dell PowerEdge 1750 Prec 4/di server running 3 disk raid. One of the drives has failed. Warning light and drive light both flashing red.

I understand this server has hot pluggable drives. I have received a new replacement drive from dell. What is the best way to install drive?

Can I unplug the faulty drive and replace with power on and system running?
Is it better to power off then replace drive and re-boot?
Will the drive re-build itself automatically? or do I need to manage it with some sort of raid management utility?

(Sorry for all the probably simple questions - its the first time I have encountered this problem!)

Many thanks,

you should be able to hotswap the faulty drive with the new one. Depending on what RAID level you are using the server should automaticaaly start rebuilding the new disk to match the old 1
