Dell Poweredge 2600 failed hard drive replacement

HEY I HAVE A DELL 2600 POWER EDGE SERVER WITH 4 DRIVES IN THE FRONT ONE OF THEM FAILED SO I BOUGHT A REPLACEMENT AND POPPED IT IN.. THEN IT SAID DRIVE DEGENERATED,,, AND WOULD NOT START UP... I TOOK OUT THE DRIVE I REPLACED AND STARTED UP THE SERVER AGAIN AND IT STILL GAVE ME THE SAME MESSAGE BUT IT STARTED UP? HELP!!! OH.. AND ITS RUNNING WINDOWS SERVER 2K3

RAID Type?

Sounds like your system is configured with hardware RAID. Do you know which type it is?

You need to rebuild the RAID Array.

To do this you will have to Read the Manual that came with the unit or download one from Dell's Web Site and follow the directions there.

You can also try looking at the Service Manual for this model and run the Diagnostics to see what they are telling you
