Dell Upgrade recommendations better for games

by relaxedguyoz . Updated 15 years, 11 months ago

I’ve been having problems with my Dell Inspiron 530s. I was asking question about updating the graphics card to try and improves its performance.
To cut along story short because I’ve had so many issues they are going to give me a replacement computer.
http://www1.ap.dell.com/au/en/home/desktops/studio-xps-8100/pd.aspx?refid=studio-xps-8100&s=dhs&cs=audhs1

“Please be aware that Inspiron 530s desktop is no longer in production and XPS 8100 will be offered as the replacement unit.
Also, 56K PCI DATA/FAX MODEM is not available in this model.
However, we have upgraded the items as per below.
– Intel? Core? i5 650 Processor (3.20GHz, 1333MHz FSB, 4MB Cache)
– 1TB SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive with Native Command Queuing
– 500GB SATA 3.0Gb/s 2nd Hard Drive with Native Command Queuing
– Dell 1525 Wireless-N PCIe Card”

I think this is quite an excellent deal based on the fact my 3 yr warranty on my Inspiron 530s only has 3 months until it runs out.

I’m thinking that if they are willing to come to the party. i’d upgrade some of the parts to make it a better one for playing games.

Also, I don’t really need the wireless card or media reader they are going to include in the specifications

Do you have any suggestions what would be a reasonable replacement part to improve this to a more solid game computer? Plus, offering extra money if you were in my position?

Cheers in advance,

P.S. I hear people bagging Dell but in the years I’ve dealt with them I’ve never had any issues.
