deploying S/W From Win 2k terminal serv

Okay, your question is a bit unclear, but it sounds like you are trying to publish applications to Terminal Server clients. This is not possible. Terminal Server clients use applications that are installed on the Terminal server. Applications are not installed on TS clients.

Now if you are saying that you are using the server as a terminal server AND to serve regular clients, then the reasons for the software publishing failure could be one of many, and you need to give us more details abouthow you set it up. Although not recommended, you should be able to use the Server as both a Terminal Server and to deply software packages through Group Policy.

One common gotcha.. make sure the folder you use for software distribution is sharedand that the users have read permisions.

Hope this helps,

Thanx Ratherb,

U r right i am using the terminal server to server the regular clients.
few details:
1) Server os is windows 2k advance (DC)
with terminal service installed on it.
1) I have created one Global group called Desktops for regular clients and using Active Directory i have created one Group policy called software deployment.
2) Edit the group policy --> user settings-->software Settings--> i tried to deploy an application,The folder used for software distribution is sharedand the users has read permission to it.
3)After creating the Group policy, from security tab i have added the desktop group and assign it read and apply group policy rights.
4)but when clients logon the application is not published in the Add/Remove Program.

If you are just trying to run on app. on the Terminal Server, you need to install the Terminal Server Client on the desktop and run the app. that way. Try using Kix to install the program. Or create a batch file that will run the install program tothose users in that group. Hope this helps.

Help menu: Client Connection Manager
Client Connection Manager can make rapid connections to either the Terminal server or a specific program that you would like to run on the Terminal server. If you are using the Terminal server only to access an accounting program, you can create a connection to Terminal Server that starts only that program. Information such as the server, domain, user name and password can be entered in advance using Client Connection Manager and this information will be used every time you make that connection.
