How do I stop students from deleting programs from hard drive. Someone said Partitioning? We use Windows 95 and 98 and need some type of way to stop the students from altering the PC offline before we put them online.

I believe some software called WinSuite may help you. You can find a description of it @ www.winsuite.com. It can be used to restrict access on Win95 & Win98 machines. Ive seen it in action, but have never had to install or configure it.

Or maybe its time to upgrade to Win2K ? :)

Windows 9x machines can have a program called Policy Editor (poledit). This is available on the original Win 9x install CD. The following link has is a pretty good tutorial. http://www.zisman.ca/poledit
for more info do an internet search for poledit. The are other desktop security programs available but most cost around $25 and poledit is free.
