Desktop Error

By dalivision ·
I get this error message at start up. Looked at the MKB and deleted files and unchecked the boxes in MSCONFIG but to no avail. When I reboot it appears again.
I am running XP-Pro.

Any suggestions?

thanks

What is the event log or startup error message?

I don't know if this is your problem or not, but it looks the same as the error message that you received. Hope this helps you out.

Yes got that info prior to original posting. Followed the instructions and still got the same error.

Any other ideas?

After searching through my registry, the only entries I find with that process thread both just say 'startup'. That being said, if you try to boot in safe mode, or log in under a different user account, do you still get the same error message? Your error is indicating to me that there is something in your startup file that is causing your problem. Have you tried doing spy/malware scans of your system?

Yes, this happens to a different account as well. I have scanned multiple times with AdAware, Spybot and latest version of Norton AV with the same results at boot up.

Safe mode?

Have you tried booting in safe mode and logging in under the admin account? Are there any items in your startup folder?
