Desktop Icons are auto arranging

I have a user that has arranged his desktop icons in a certain way, and they stay like that until Windows is restarted of he logs off from the machine where all dekstop icons are auto arranged to the left hand side of the desktop.

The auto arrange option is unchecked. Win2k, SP4 with Novell client.

Any suggetions?
