Desktop keeps refreshing

By EStreetJerseyGirl ·
My computer keeps refreshing the desktop and taskbar for no apparent reason. I'll open up a folder and all of a sudden, I get the message: "Windows Explorer has encountered an error and needs to close." All the icons on my desktop disappear, as does the taskbar, and a few seconds later, they come back, but all the folders I had opened are now closed. It's not any folder in particular that makes this happen; I could be in C:\Program Files or F:\Pics, it doesn't matter. I have more than enough room on my hard drive for the virtual memory; I don't have any spyware installed (I run both SpywareBlaster and Spybot - S&amp with the latest updates); I don't have any viruses (I update the definitions daily); and I've already tried repairing Windows (XP Home).

Can someone PLEASE tell me how to fix this problem? Thanx!

Already tried, even though it's not IE that's having the problem. It's Windows Explorer, has nothing to do with the Internet at all.

Turns out it was a hotfix that was causing the problem. I uninstalled it and now everything's just ducky.
