Desktop reset

You can't except to standardize the Desktop, rt click the center of the screen and select properties , and determine the standard you want , if you attempt to see a Jpeg , it will ask if you want a webpage, or select a folder to set it as a webpage or standard, as far as uniform command to command the desktops to go to a Win setup , it will have to come from your server , such as a reset of all machines through the server , in which case the server will have to control the machines collectively, not very good use of resourses. I think I know what it is you are asking , and it can be embedded in all machines to respond to a key up of the server, which will make you super-vulnerable to a hacker/virus/worm through a common key/thread , wherethey can load a bug into all machines at the same time. I would get a software writer to make a special disk that will operate across all the types of platform , that will configure all desktops the same , then give your dept heads a set of disks tomake it happen , then when started they are all the same in appearance, but each platform has attributes that operate differently, anmd as soon as accessed will become that unique platform .
Bottom line is not to use any more common threads from the server than necessary for security. This is a generality, and not what you exactly asked for , do as you will , but think about security aspects before leaping into what may or may not cause a massive breakdown up the road, besides , it is more effeciant to utilize as much memory of the individual PC's as possible , to unload the servers. Good luck on it, whichever way you go.

You could install a disk image using ghost software. This will however erase anything on a machine and return it to a single set of files and settings.
