Determining a user's NT username in JSP

By mikemanley ·
My team is building an Intranet using JSP's, Servlets & Beans (not EJB's.) All users of the Intranet will use NT Workstation 4 as their client OS. We would like to automatically log the users in to the Intranet application based upon their login to NT. So, is there any way to determine a user's NT username from a JSP page?

First realize that you're looking for client information in the JS[erver]P.

IOW, you probably need a page to grab the %USERDOMAIN% and %USERNAME% from NT's environment.

I just checked logs and a test script on my Apache server, and %REMOTE_HOST% and %REMOTE_USER% were not populated. %REMOTE_COMPUTER% showed the client IP.
