device driver conflict

By 7803hjb ·
we have an old Noblis PC with an internal Seagate tape drive. When we try to do a back up we get the message there is a conflict with another device driver. How do we tell what device driver it is in conflict with?

START>SETTINGS>CONTROL PANEL>SYSTEM>Device manager.

Conflicting devices will be marked with a yellow Exclamation point.

There are other types of conflict but this is the most common.

I tried what was suggested and there were no yellow exclamation points listed. Now what?

You said you get an error message about it conflicting with another device driver.

What Backup sofware are you running? BUP Exec?
What is the exact error message along with the program that is giving you the error?

In case you misunderstood the previous answer, it is necessary to click on the particular device (display, modem, audio etc) to see which drivers have the yellow exclamation mark.
If there is more than one driver listed, you can highight the one with the yellow exclamation mark and click on "remove" at the bottom of the box. There will sometimes be a conflict if more than one driver is listed for each device.
