\device\ide\idePort1, did not respone

By RG11 ·
I hae a compaq with xp pro, 256mb,20g,1.2mhz.....The hard drive was replaced about 7-8 months ago because of the ping pong noise. Now the hard drive started to grind a bit but its not always and not that bad. I looked in the event viewer and noticed and entry:The Device,\Device\Ide\IdePort1, did not respond within the timeout period......Source atapi, Event ID9..... What does this mean?
