DFS access when host root is down

by nateh . Updated 17 years, 6 months ago

Hi all,

I have a Win2003 SBS server at one location and I have a Win2008 Server at a remote location. I set up a VPN and configured the W2008 as a DC over the VPN.

I also set up DFS for some files that need to be shared between the two locations. The files have replicated fine.

Here is the problem. Users at the remote location can access the DFS files via the namespace with no problem – ONLY IF THE VPN IS UP. If the VPN goes down for some reason, the DFS files are not accessible via the namespace, even though they are local on the server.

I don’t get it. …HELP!!
