    DFS adds folder to share

    Locked

    by paulm ·

Sometimes when I have created a DFS share it adds a folder called
    sharename_NTFRS-c56546f2
why does it have to add this?
is it for the File Replication Service??
It only does it on a few shares and one share it has done to isn’t even being replicated??
Why doesn’t it hide that folder??

Another question is I have 2 servers in a cluster containing exact same data using network load balancing for distributed access.
So I create a share and point to 1 server and then add an automatic replication to the other server.
But when I check the Replication policy it just says Unknown and doesn’t allow any changes.
Does this mean it is okay and if one server goes down then the DFS share will automatically switch to other server??
We areusing Domain DFS and the cluster servers are not Microsoft os. All I want to know is if one server goes down, will the users using DFS be okay and the share will point to the other server?

        cheers for link
i just deleted the extra folder as it was empty anyway and it seems okay.
I just didn’t want to delete it uncase it was important.
