DFS (UNIX) Access is Slow

Running DFS on one of my Win2k fileservers, pointing a directory within a share to a UNIX server. When a user clicks on the DFS folder, it takes a few moments to load… upon exiting the folder and re-opening it, it opens with very little hesitation.

Is there a configuration setting that can decrease this initial load time?
