DFS (UNIX) Access is Slow

By Bobby Gillette ·
Running DFS on one of my Win2k fileservers, pointing a directory within a share to a UNIX server. When a user clicks on the DFS folder, it takes a few moments to load... upon exiting the folder and re-opening it, it opens with very little hesitation.

Is there a configuration setting that can decrease this initial load time?

I not sure this will help. You can connect to NFS shares through a Distributed file system (Dfs) server by using Client for NFS on each client computer. However, before accessing the Dfs link, you must connect to the NFS shares using the net commandon the computer that is the Dfs server.

D.Walker... the clients already connect to the share via login script (net use <driverletter>: \\servername\share... they then access the DFS mounted share via their drive mapping (<drivemapping<dfsfolder>
