DHCP and setting the default gateway???

By dbreccia ·
Have our NT Server configured for DHCP with our router configured as the default gateway. I cannot get our Win95/98 pc's to ping thru the gateway. Whether I set the gateway on the individual PC's or rely on DHCP to do it, they do not recognize the gateway. If I statically assign the IP's and gateway they work fine but if they are set via DHCP they can't get thru the gateway. Our WinNT Workstations and Win2K machine have no problem. Running ipconfig /all or Winipcfg reveals that they have no gateway installed as long as DHCP is enabled.. Did I miss setting something when I configured the Scope or DHCP???

Thanks in advance

DHCP and setting the default gateway???

Please, check your settings (DHCP Manager) in Scope ,Global or Default settings depending on you request.
Set option 003 Router. It's option set list default routers on sub-network clients.

I thought I had set that option, however when I returned to it to check apparently I did not save it correctly. Once corrected DHCP worked as advertised.

Thanks

I assume that you set the 003 router option with the correct ip address, since the NT and W2K works.
Now, when you do this, do you run winipconfig, release all then renew all?
Or from DHCP just disconnect the client, and then reboot the client? It should work. Good luck!

This might be a stupid answer but I hope you set the dhcp scope to also deliver DNS ip address. I have a dhcp and i have nt and win98 machine and eally don't have a problem. Sorry if this didn't help

check your DHCP scope, do you have more than one scope? did you use 003 router to assign your gateway?
