    DHCP Issue

    Locked

    by Anonymous ·

    Hi,
I am having Windows server 2003, 1 primary and 1 secondary (additional) server. I have configured DHCP in secondary server. my problem is that, after the lease time (1 day) all the client system receives same old IP Address. I am having 55% of unused IP address.

    2. In the IP addr received from the DHCP Server, DNS server is changed often, When we give Repair option, all the DNS servers are listed.

DHCP clients do not necessarily get a new IP address just because they renew a lease. See the article at http://www.tech-faq.com/dhcp-leasing.shtml

See the article at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/139904 for configuring your scope. If your DNS servers are changing on clients, you have something misconfigured.

is your scope to big that 55% of available addresses are unused?

DHCP is supposed to renew addresses on hosts that respond to a DHCP query at 50% of lease time. typically that means they get the same address.
