DHCP on VLANs

By vicmen23 ·
Im posting this again, because I accidentally closed this topic. To all who answered, and get rejected, sorry, can you please post your answers again so i can accept and rate it. Again Sorry.

Is it possible to use one DHCP server on multiple VLANs? I've tried it once, configured the scope of different VLANs but I get an invalid address (not the correct VLAN). Are there any re-configurations I need to do? Is there any hardware I need to buy? By the way I use cisco switches.

DHCP on VLANs

Whatever segment your DHCP server is servicing should be treated as a flat network, even
though vlan's are present.

Make sure Vlan learning is turned on in the Switch's configuration program

The only issue is if you have remote workstations or devices on the other side of a wan link.
DHCP becomes a little more troublesome, but I've solved this in the past
by making any of these static.

thanks for the re-post.

Yes. My answer was that the DHCP server will have a scope for each VLAN subnet. Also depends upon your routing between VLANs and trunking.
