DHCP problems

An Internet site suggested this fix for my internet connection. HKEY LOCAL MACHINE
SYSTEM
CURRENT CONTROL SET
SERVICES
Dhcp
Depend On Service
Delete all words except Afd
Click OK restart
I have done this and now I cannot connect to the Internet. Foolishly I know I did not back up my registry!! I have an Acer travel mate running windows Vista. I need to be talked through a reinstall process to fix my error not being ( as you can see) totally computer literate. I am ( as you can also see) prepared and interested to 'have a go ' myself and would like to fix this myself but need some help. Think of it as a learning process if only to learn to leave well alone!! CAN ANY ONE HELP? Ok, no replies? I guess no one can help. Maybe it's too simple but I just can't see an answer. My solution is going to have to be erase the whole memory and save as much info as I can befor hand!! Drastic , I know, but what else can I do? Without internet all I've got is a type writer !!

System Restore to earlier date?

by SmartAceW0LF In reply to DHCP problems

Have you tried this? Note that it sometimes will give better results to do the system restore from a boot disc.
