Does DHCP service have to run on a Domain contoller??? If not, then the type of Win2000 server should be a standalone type?

First, some terminology:
In the Windows 2000 world, there are generally 3 types of servers -
Domain Controllers (DCs) - self-explanatory
Member servers - servers joined to a domain, but not functioning as DCs
Standalone servers - servers not joined to a domain (e.g. a web server in a DMZ)

To answer your question, the DHCP service does NOT need to be run on a DC. But it must be run on a server joined to the domain (i.e. a member server).

Hope this answers your question.
