DHCP too slow on Cisco 2950 switches

By tq.twaha ·
Hi All,

I am new to the cisco 2950 switch, ive never faced this problem on previous networks ive worked with, but dhcp here takes toooo long

after 2 minutes you get a limited or no connectivity error and a few seconds later it says connected.

i cant seem to find where the problem really is, but thinking aloud am wondering if theres something i have to do on these switches to make this faster, perhaps specify the port where my dhcp server is connected?

Check if the port protection is enabled on the switch.
Also I recommend setting the NICs of the devices connected to the switch to the same Full Duplex mode as the switch is configured, for example if the switch is set up to work on 100 Mbits the network cards also have to be configured this way.
If the switch is set to work on automatic the same for the NICs.
