DHCP-TOOL: remove a lease

By herbert.lohninger ·
Hi All !
I am looking for a Command Line Tool to delete a inactive DHCP-Lease on a WinNT Server.

Important:
not a reservation, only a lease without a reservation. A reservation e.g. I can remove with the dhcpcmd tool from the Winnt RK.

It's very important for me.
It also can be a 3rd party tool.

Please inform me, if you know something.

Bye
Herby

DHCP-TOOL: remove a lease

by chris hirst In reply to DHCP-TOOL: remove a lease

Why not just install the client tools from the NT 4 server cd to a workstation and use DHCP manager. I fail to see why you need to remove an inactive lease, If it is inactive it will be available for reservation, exclusion etc.
If you are trying to force a NIC to get a new lease then add the problem IP as an exclusion before connecting the NIC to the network and it will be given the next available

DHCP-TOOL: remove a lease

by herbert.lohninger In reply to DHCP-TOOL: remove a lease

Hi Chris!
Thanks for your answer. Here my problem in the detail:

We have over 3.600 clients (all NT Workstation) and these in over 170 subnets with their own NT-Servers (PDC - own domains). If a employee from us or another person hangs in one ofthe subnets - he/she will get's an IP adress from the local DHCP Server.
If this person go on the same day away from this subnet I have a lease that is active (e.g. 3 days).
If a new PC should be installed with this ip address (that the lease have), we cannot install this client with this address.
p.s. our clients were installed over a very complex unattended installation of Windows NT.
All our Clients are numbered with a fix IP address over a reservation in the DHCP-Server.
