I have a windows NT based network, with more than 50 workstations. Up to now the addressing scheme is dynamic provided by the PDC wich acts as a DHCP server and DHCP relay. We have also an ISDN line to connect to the Internet. Recently the company ordered a new type of Internet connection based on the ADSL technology. Our new ISP provided us with a new range of IP address that would not match the number of networked devices in the network. Also they provided us with a new preconfigured router.the old range of IP addresses is of course totally different (ie different IPs and different subnet mask.
The existing DHCP server has only one network interface card. I have been advised to configure the Server with more than one IP address and totake advantage of the Superscope configuration on the DHCP manager, but i am affraid it is not as simple as they have suggested. There is the issue of leases, subnet mak, default gateway and so on.
Another thing worth of mentionning is that the ISP kind of obliged me to give a certain IP address to the mail server which will make it just next to the router in the IP order.
Any suggestions? Could you please be specific in your answers.
Many thanks
