Dial in as a backup connection

By teddyrux ·
I need to set Outlook to connect to an Exchange server via pop3 (I know how to do this). I also need to setup a backup dial-up connection. Basically, users that are out of the office need to dial an 800 number to access their interoffice email should my DSL line go down. How do I set Outlook to do both?

You'll need to set up a Dial-Up Networking session and then go to Outlook-Options-Mail Delivery tab-Accounts button and bring up the Properties page for the account.

On the Connection tab, there will be a box to check for "Connect via modem if LAN is not available". Then, from the drop-down box under Modem, you'll choose the DUN session you created above.

I'm sure there is some minor annoying tweak that I'm forgetting, but that should at least let you get started.
